Freelancer testimonials your next client will trust

Your work speaks for itself — until a new client needs to know you hit deadlines, answer emails and are nice to work with. That part only past clients can say.

The message to send

You → client, in the handover email

Here are the final files 🎉 Thanks for a great project. If you have a minute, a couple of lines about working together would really help me — no sign-up, one short page: wallsy.live/f/your-name

Template — change the words to sound like you
  1. Ask on handover day

The client is happiest the day they get the final files and the invoice is paid. Wait a month and they’re busy with the next thing. Put the request in the same email as the handover.

Keep it short and make it easy to say yes. Most clients are glad to help — they just won’t think of it themselves.

  2. Three questions that get a useful answer

Put these on your collection page. Short, specific questions get short, specific answers — the kind people actually read.

    1. What did you need help with, and why did you choose me?Tells future clients you solve their kind of problem.
    2. How was working together — communication, deadlines, surprises? The thing clients worry about most with freelancers.
    3. What happened after the project was delivered? Results turn a nice quote into a reason to hire you.
  3. Where to put them

    • Your portfolio, under each projectFree & Pro
Grid widget with testimonials about that kind of work.
    • Proposals and cold emailsFree & Pro
A link to your Wall of Love: “Here’s what past clients say.”
    • Your homepagePro
Marquee widget — a lot of proof in very little space.
  4. Set it up in an afternoon

    1. Name your collection page after you, not your business — “Working with [your name]” reads warmer than a company name.
    2. Turn on the company and website fields, so each testimonial shows who the client is.
    3. Add the request link to your handover email template so you never forget to ask.
    4. Make one Wall of Love for your portfolio and paste its link into every proposal.
  5. The honest bit: Wallsy isn’t for you if…

    • You only need reviews on a marketplace profile (Upwork, Fiverr) — those live on the marketplace, not on your site.
    • You want video testimonials — Wallsy is written testimonials with stars and an optional photo.

Questions people ask

Can I use testimonials in proposals?

Yes. Every Wallsy account gets a public Wall of Love with its own link, so you can drop one link into any proposal or email.

Do clients need to log in?

No. They open the link, write a few lines and tick a permission box — the time they agreed is stored with the testimonial.

How many testimonials can I show for free?

The Free plan publishes 4. Pro ($11/month) is unlimited, with all four widget layouts.

Should I ask clients I worked with years ago?

Yes — if the work was good, they’ll usually remember. Mention the project so they don’t have to think about which one.

What if a client only writes one line?

One specific line is fine. You can show it in a Single quote widget, where short testimonials look best.
